A Band describes how hard the books are. Every book in the library sits in one, and a reader's Band decides which books show up on their shelf. You set it — a child isn't locked to their grade.
A Rank is what a reader earns from points, climbing from Zebra Scout to Lion Guardian. It's pure encouragement, and it has nothing to do with how hard their books are.
Very short books with big pictures, simple repeated words, and one idea per page. A grown-up may still be reading along.
